Georgia O'Keefe

So, once again I was going through the New York Magazine, the week of September 28th, and I found another story worth reading. There was an article on Georgia O'Keefe's work, talking about how back when she first started critics would talk of her art as sexual images on paper, exploiting of the women race, and much more. But with the image of her and her non shaven armpits and the look of sadness could you really believe this was all her work was about. It was new and colorful and a different perspective for the art world. I love her abstract designs, the colors the life beyond the image, I rarely ever thought of her work as sexual. I can see how people would exploit it like this, but when she began working women weren't really famous artists, nor was the artwork as colorful and light. Plus with the images she let Stieglitz take of her, you could see why people would say the things they did. People are always looking for ways to exploit people, and gossip about, and get fame on their opinions, people should just appreciate the way individuals express their feelings and emotions through their artwork, if more people did things such as paint and draw and write music and take photos, maybe the world wouldn't be as violent as it is today.
